What is Postmates

If you’re wondering what postmates is, we’ll need to put “how to make 200 a day with postmates,” on the back burner for a tiny moment.

Postmates is a company that offers delivery services to the general public. I say delivery services because with postmates you are able to deliver anything from food delivery, grocery delivery, whatever-you-can-think-of delivery app to bring what you crave right to your door.

How does it work and how to make $200 a day with Postmates?

How to do Postmates, you ask? Great question.

Before you sign up, you have to meet three requirements in order to become a part of the Postmates fleet:

  • You must be 18 years or older
  • You must have a valid driver’s license (and yes it has to be insured) or access to another mode of transportation; a bicycle, scooter, anything with wheels.

Your third hurdle and requirement lies after you’ve signed up for the app:

  • You have to pass a background check performed by Postmates

If you meet the requirements above and you own a smartphone then you’re one step further with the application process.

After you’ve set up your account, Postmates will ask you to verify your identity. Use your full and legal name only when doing this because it will be a part of your background check.

The next thing you’ll have to do is upload a picture of yourself or a selfie so that merchants and customers can identify you. Postmates recommends using pictures that meet these criterias:

  • The picture should be taken from the shoulders up
  • Have a solid and clean background

And then you’re set. As soon as you complete the application process, you are ready to receive your first order and make your first run.

Benefits of working with Postmates

Before we get into the how of how to make $200 a day with postmates, I want to give you a little peek into the benefits of working with Postmates.

1.Work on your own time

One of the benefits of working with Postmates is that you get to make your own hours and they’re completely and 100% flexible depending on the time you have and when you’re able to make the delivery runs.

2.Make money during down time

Let’s say you have some time to take a siesta, what if instead of taking that nap, you log in some hours and make some money?

Better yet, you have time in between appointments, log onto the app and pick up deliveries nearby. Kill two birds with one stone and make money while doing it.

They say time is money, in this case all that spare time will make you money.

3.They’ll give you a bonus for signing up

With delivery services popping up like daisies and the popularity of Postmates steadily increasing, so too does the need for drivers.

This bodes well for you if you’re looking to sign up for a delivery service because Postmates offers new couriers a generous sign up bonus.

How much is the sign up bonus worth?

The Postmates sign up bonus for new drivers is worth $1,000 but hold your horses, this doesn’t mean they’re handing over $1000 to you.

Let me break it down for you, let’s say there is an earnings guarantee in your city of $1000, if you complete between 15-100 deliveries within a 30 day period and you only make $850 from those deliveries, Postmates will give you an additional $150 cash payout at the end of the month to bring your total earning up to $1000.

But if you’ve already made $1000 after 100 deliveries, Postmates will not give you anything extra.

How to get the Postmates bonus?

Postmates referral bonus is a promotion for new drivers only. You can get your Postmates bonus only when you sign up to become a Postmates driver.  To qualify for this perk, you have to:

  • Be referred by an existing Postmates driver (Referrer)
  • Start your Postmates application process. Sign up with the official driver referral code: “FL-eleonorap”
  • Once you are approved, you must complete the specified number of deliveries within 30 days.
  • The bonus will be automatically credited to your Postmates Driver account, once you’ve completed the number of required deliveries.

*Disclaimer: the amount of bonus varies by city, and are subject to Postmates’ official referral terms

4.There are also other perks

The signup bonus isn’t the only thing Postmates has to offer. The company gives drivers that exceed the weekly goal of ten deliveries something called a “PerkSpot.” This extra perk gives drivers discounts and exclusive offers from companies.

We’ve covered the basics of what Postmates is and what benefits they offer if you sign up and work with them. But the real question is, “how much can I make a day with postmates?”

How to make 200 a day with Postmates

How much can you make in a day with postmates?

That depends on who you ask and where you live. The lowest paying rate is $11 an hour -this is not inclusive of tips, which you get to keep 100%.

Bastian Lehman is the CEO of Postmates and he says couriers driving during peak hours make an average of $19 an hour. However, drivers working for Postmates have reported earnings from $12.40 to $37.40 an hour on Indeed.

So, how much do you make a day with postmates? How much you make will be dependent on the amount of hours you work. I’ll give you some tips and tricks to minimize your hours and make double the money using some Postmates hacks.

Note: As you’re paid solely solely for the deliveries you make, keep in mind that additional fees that occur during your delivery are not covered by the company.

This means parking tickets, ATM fees or any sort of damage to your car cannot be claimed through Postmates.

Earnings per delivery are calculated by Postmates using these following criteria:

  • The amount of every successful and completed pickup
  • The amount of every successful and completed drop off
  • A per minute rate for the time you spent waiting at the pickup location
  • A per mile rate for the distance traveled between pickup and drop off locations

How to make more money with Postmates

If you’re searching for “how to make good money with postmates,” then look no further. Here are some time saving tips that will increase your cash flow while working as a Postmate driver.

1.Pick up and deliver multiple orders

Are you trying to work out how to make more money with postmates? Instead of taking a single order and waiting around for it, use that waiting time to your advantage and complete another delivery somewhere closeby.

Better yet, accept a few deliveries along the way, plan a route and complete them in order of your delivery route.

By accepting multiple delivery orders and requests, you reduce the amount of time wasted while waiting and your commute time.

Just be sure to keep everything within a 1 hour timeframe because Postmates promises one-hour deliveries.

2.Make more during Blitz hours

How to make the most money with postmates? Two words. Blitz hours. Blitz hours or Blitz pricing is available during peak hours when the demand for deliveries are at their highest.

Just like surge pricing, drivers working with Postmates will earn more per delivery when they complete orders during these hours. But the fine print is that it only refers to specific delivery orders.

Inside Tip: Blitz pricing is more common when most people order food, so keep your eyes peeled during lunch and dinner time.

Also, since Postmates offers more than food delivery, Blitz pricing can even happen during holiday seasons, national holidays or even late evenings.

3.You don’t need a car

Just because you don’t have a car, it doesn’t mean you’re out of the running. You don’t need a fancy car or even a car to be a Postmates driver; as long as your wheels are in good condition you’re ready to go.

And if you have numerous modes of transportation available to you, this can also work to your advantage.

You can still make deliveries during peak hours without a car and dodge the traffic.

Switch to a scooter or bike.

Here’s a little trick

The one thing I can fault with Postmates is that you only see the items and details of the order after accepting the delivery. But if you own a bike or a scooter, you’ll get the explicit details before you accept the offer.

Before you scream double standards, this is done because riders need to know how much space or how heavy the order will be to transport. Let’s say you register yourself as a cyclist or have both modes of transportations registered under the app.

By switching to another vehicle, you can get more details about the order and plan your route accordingly all while sitting in the comfort of your car.

4.You can earn tips

Great customer service = tips. Postmates drivers keep 100% of the tips they earn during their delivery. To ensure you get tips, make sure you communicate effectively, deliver everything in a timely manner or earlier than expected.

Once you’ve completed your delivery, a customer is asked to leave a review and an optional tip.

Tips to succeed with Postmates

I want you to make the most out of your time at Postmates, so here are some tips to help you succeed and earn more money:

1.Get inside tips from other drivers

Did you know that there’s a community for drivers on Facebook? You can join this group and learn from other Postmates drivers.

2.Postmates Help

Customer service matters and Postmates knows that, which is why they have an entire website dedicated to their “Fleet” of drivers.

You can find helpful FAQ’s and if that doesn’t answer your question, they have a Twitter account (@Postmates_Help) where drivers can directly receive support and contact via the direct messaging option.

3.Get to know your area

Sure you can rely on GPS but the best way to get around and cut time is to get to know your city.

You can find out:

  • What are the fastest routes?
  • Is there a shortcut you can take?
  • Which restaurants take longer to process an order?
  • Where are the hotspots?
  • Which roads are the busiest?
  • When is rush hour?

The more you know about your area, the better you can plan.

4.Pick up orders close to your location

Postmates has an “Auto-Accept” function on their app that will allow new deliveries to be accepted to your route automatically. Keep this option in mind when picking deliveries and choose them based on your location.

You don’t get paid to sit around and wait and the delivery costs only cover the timeframe between pick up and drop off, so if an order is too far away from where you are, it may be better to skip that one

Other websites Similar to Postmates

If you aren’t entirely sold on Postmates or you want to juggle two of the same jobs, here are some companies that offer similar services to Postmates.

Uber Eats

Uber Eats is self explanatory in itself. Uber has capitalized on their ride sharing app and have added food delivery into their rapporteur.

Uber Eats drivers deliver food orders and can choose their own hours. Drivers are not limited to cars and may complete orders using a bike or scooter too.

How much can you make?

Uber Eats drivers make $10-$14 per hour.

DoorDash delivery drivers or Dashers mainly deliver orders from restaurants. Unlike Postmates, you have to choose your hours and area in advance.

You cannot take orders in areas that you haven’t selected -an exception to this rule is if DoorDash needs more drivers stationed in a particular part of the city.

How much can you make?

A Dasher’s income is calculated as follows: Base pay (a minimum of $2) + promotions + tips and that adds up to an average $15-$25 per delivery.

Grubhub is slowly climbing up the ranks and fast becoming one of the top food delivery services out there.

The app focuses on food delivery and connects customers, restaurants, and drivers to orchestrate a seamless food delivery service. Restaurants and drivers can choose their own hours with Grubhub.

How much do they pay?

 $20.48 per hour

Instacart is a delivery service that focuses on shopping deliveries. What’s different about Instacart is that they have two categories of workers:

  •  A Full-Service Shopper
  • In-Store Shopper

Full-Service Shoppers have to shop and deliver goods to the customer and In-Store Shoppers are people who work part-time and in stores. This means they’re solely responsible for the shopping and not the delivery.

How much do they pay?

Instacart shoppers make around $9-$18/ hour but this can vary depending on your location.

Deliv is similar to Postmates in which anything you want delivered can be and will be delivered to your doorstep.

They offer same-day delivery services for people who need to purchase items from retail stores, pharmacies, grocery stores, etc.

How much do they pay?

You can make anywhere from $15 to $22/hour working with Deliv.
