Why Am I Getting Paid To Move To Ireland?

There are about 80 Irish Islands, of which only 20 are inhabited, and you will get paid to move to Ireland by the government.

The geography of Ireland is such that some islands are well connected to the mainland whilst some are not. The ones that do not lack infrastructure, amongst many other things.

This is causing some of the younger generation to leave the country, and most of the other communities are aging.

According to CNBC, the reason the government is doing this is because they recognized this dilemma.

There are many reasons why the government of Ireland is encouraging people to buy houses in the most remote place in Ireland.

One of them is so that a more viable, healthy intergenerational community can live in Ireland for many more years to come.

And you get to help contribute to that cause.

What Is The Twist?

Now, let’s say you have decided to buy a house in the Irish Islands and enroll in this project; these are a couple of things you need to keep in mind:

  • The islands in this project are not connected to the mainland by bridges and if there is a high tide, the islands are completely cut off too.
  • You will need to buy a property in one of the 30 islands listed in the Our Living Island project. The property should have been constructed before the year 2007.
  • The property should have been vacant for at least two years before you buy a house in Ireland. Aran Island is one of the islands on the list for this ‘Our Living Island’ policy. Look up houses for sale on Aran Island and make sure they have been vacant for at least two years.
  • The total sum of the money can and should only be used to refurbish the property. This includes fixing insulation, refurbishing, and giving a makeover for the property.

If you do meet all these requirements, the cost for you to be like any other people in Ireland, living and whatnot, will be around €80,000 (USD $88,610)
